“You’ve got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle…
Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”— Steve Jobs.
I thought a little bit of background information was in order. Over the past 10 years, I’ve fallen in love with coffee. At first, I found myself spending far too much time and money at Starbucks each week. My visits yielded really great acquaintances, and I developed a love of caffeinated beverages that was due to the rigors of University. This tale is a fairly common, nationally shared introduction into the world of coffee and tea.
At the age of about 25, I realized there was so much more depth to coffee than Starbucks or Dunkin’ Donuts. Coffees riddled with sugars and artificial sweeteners are undeniably delicious (and I will absolutely not deny my affinity for these drinks), but it turns out that we’re all capable of making a far better cup of coffee at home. Great beans and leaves are essential to great coffees and great teas, and I plan to explore different beans and leaves from around the United States and beyond.
If you want to start creating a better and more enjoyable cup of coffee on your own then you have come to the right place. My first blog post will be about getting a simple setup with a burr grinder and a French press. It’s simple and beautiful, and it is something that you can start for an extremely reasonable price at your own home. It will make you fall in love with coffee and you will begin to understand how wonderful coffee can be.
